CryptoChicks Announce Female-Focussed Blockchain Hackathon and Conference

Toronto, Ontario, Feb. 23, 2018- Blockchain and cryptocurrency educators CryptoChicks and BlockGeeks, in partnership with MaRSDD, Polychain Capital, and Pixel Dreams, are pleased to announce their historic Female-Focussed Blockchain Hackathon and Conference, April 6-8, 2018, at the MaRS Centre in downtown Toronto.

The conference welcomes speakers, participants and mentors of all genders meeting in parallel with the all-female (and female-identified) corporate and independent hacker teams competing in Business or Developer streams. The conference features industry leaders from all over the globe speaking on AI, cryptoeconomics, blockchain use cases, fin tech, venture capital, ICOs, DAICOs and investments.
Conference and hackathon will be connected by live video streams.

Since being popularized by Bitcoin, encrypted accountancy ledgers or “blockchains” have taken the finance world by storm. Demand for developers is high- blockchains simplify transactions and reduce costs- but their is a marked shortage of skilled workers, a situation worsened by a diminishing presence of females in the computing sector- down from 30% in the 1980’s to18% today.

‘We believe that this hackathon will provide needed exposure to female talent…connecting hackers with employers,” says CryptoChicks cofounder Natalia Ameline. Adds fellow cofounder Elena Sinelnikova“Considering that blockchain developers are in huge demand these days and the fact that this industry lacks female participation, we kill two birds with one stone.”

The three day event at downtown Toronto’s world-class MaRS incubation facility will also feature
business pitches, workshops, panels, a cocktail party, and a VIP dinner. Hacked projects are judged
and awarded on the final day.

Any female or female-identified person interested in or possessed of skills in UX/UI design, software
development, business analysis, crypto-economics, cryptography or marketing may hack. Hackers
participate FREE, receive FREE meals and snacks, hack on the blockchain of their choice and retain
rights to their creations. Complete beginners are welcome, and all hackers who register qualify for free
pre-conference blockchain training at BlockGeeks.com. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
