Mirae Asset Issues Tokenized Notes on Solana in a $3 Billion Program
Mirae Asset Securities’ Hong Kong unit issued six-month tokenized floating-rate notes on Solana under its $3 billion structured note program.
Mirae Asset Securities, whose asset management arm runs $275 billion in ETF assets and calls itself the world’s 12th-largest ETF business, issued six-month tokenized floating-rate notes on the Solana blockchain through its Hong Kong unit, the company announced Wednesday.
The notes are US dollar floating-rate debt issued by private placement to eligible professional investors in Hong Kong under the firm’s $3 billion Guaranteed Structured Note Programme. Marketnode, a Singapore-regulated digital market infrastructure operator, acted as authorized distributor, with support from the Solana Foundation. Mirae Asset said in the announcement that it managed token issuance, payments and the notes’ lifecycle on its own tokenization platform.
“Extending our structured note capabilities into digitally native channels is a natural progression,” said Kelly Sohn, head of digital assets at Mirae Asset Securities, in the announcement.
For a firm of this size, the choice of venue is the news. Solana gains a regulated securities issuance from a top-tier traditional brokerage, one of the most direct institutional votes yet for a public blockchain in capital markets. The company framed the transaction as a model for distributing a wider range of structured products through blockchain-based channels, which points to further issuance rather than a one-off. It follows comparable institutional tests on other rails, including a tokenized US Treasury repo workflow completed by BNY and Citadel Securities this month.
The Solana deal also fits a broader digital-asset build-out at the Korean group. In July, affiliate Mirae Asset Consulting took a controlling stake in crypto exchange Korbit, since rebranded to Digital X, giving the group both an exchange and now an on-chain issuance channel for its own securities.
What the announcement does not say is how large this individual issuance was: the issue amount, rate basis and investor names were not disclosed, and the $3 billion figure is the size of the program, not the notes sold.
Sohn’s framing suggests the next step is distribution scale rather than another pilot. The notes carry a six-month tenor, so the first on-chain redemption falls in early 2027.
