Mastercard Launches Global Money Platform With BVNK, Putting Stablecoins Into Banking

Mastercard launched its Global Money Platform with BVNK, bringing stablecoin balances into banking, cards and payouts through one integration.

Mastercard launched its Global Money Platform with BVNK on Thursday, putting stablecoin balances into banking, cards and payouts through one integration, the company announced.

Built on BVNK’s stablecoin infrastructure, the platform lets banks, fintechs and enterprises hold and convert fiat currencies and stablecoins, issue stablecoin-linked cards, and pay from stablecoin balances directly into recipients’ local bank accounts. Businesses get all of it through a single integration, according to Mastercard.

The platform connects to Mastercard Move, the company’s global money transfer network, which Mastercard says can route payments to more than 17 billion destinations, including bank accounts and cards. That reach gives stablecoin balances an immediate path into fiat banking systems worldwide.

Nuvei, Marqeta and several other fintech companies are among the first integration partners. Mastercard did not name the others, and no pricing or regional availability details were announced.

The launch is the first major integration since Mastercard acquired BVNK, a stablecoin infrastructure company, in August. Two months from acquisition to a live product shows the payment network moving quickly to put the deal to work.

The launch escalates the card networks’ competition for stablecoin rails. Visa launched a platform in July that lets financial institutions hold, mint and transfer stablecoins, and Visa already routes payout flows through BVNK on its own network. The Global Money Platform pushes stablecoins further into consumer-facing banking: cards that spend from stablecoin balances and accounts that hold them.

Mastercard’s announcement came the same day the company promoted the launch on X, describing the single-integration offering for banks, fintechs and enterprises.
