Raiffeisen Bank International partners Bitpanda for crypto trading across 11 European markets

Raiffeisen Bank International partners Bitpanda to bring crypto trading to 11 European markets and potentially 18 million customers.

Raiffeisen Bank International will partner with Bitpanda to offer crypto trading through its network banks across 11 European markets, potentially reaching about 18 million customers.

The Austrian banking group announced the group-wide deal with Bitpanda on September 23. Bitpanda Enterprise will supply the digital asset infrastructure that RBI’s local banks can use to introduce crypto services, the companies said in the joint announcement. Each network bank will decide its own offering and rollout based on local market and regulatory requirements.

RBI chief executive Michael Höllerer said the bank is seeing growing demand for crypto assets across its markets and is addressing it with Bitpanda. “As a customer-centric bank, we are committed to meeting our customers’ needs in the best possible way,” he said.

Bitpanda is authorized under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), the framework that lets a bank group plug a licensed crypto provider into retail accounts across the bloc. The company said it is regularly in discussions with banks and financial institutions exploring crypto brokerage services but declined to comment on active or confidential talks.

The service is already live in Austria through an integration with Raiffeisenlandesbank Niederösterreich-Wien, which was announced in 2023 and launched in 2024. An RBI spokesperson said plans call for the wider rollout to begin in Albania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the first half of 2027.
