Revolut Begins Rolling Out Euro Stablecoin EURR Across Europe
Revolut started a phased rollout of its euro-pegged stablecoin EURR across Denmark, Poland and Portugal, putting 80 million customers one tap from an onchain euro.
Revolut started a phased rollout of its euro-pegged stablecoin EURR on Wednesday. The token is now open to roughly 2 million customers across Denmark, Poland, and Portugal.
The move plants one of Europe’s largest neobanks squarely in the stablecoin race. Revolut counts 80 million customers globally, per its own figure. EURR is issued through Bridge, the stablecoin infrastructure company Stripe bought for $1.1 billion in February 2025. Revolut Digital Assets Europe is the offering entity. Wider availability across the European Economic Area should follow later this year, the company said, subject to regulatory and operational readiness.
Each EURR token is designed to hold at €1. Reserves are managed by Bridge Building S.A., a Luxembourg-based Bridge subsidiary, under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets framework. The token launched on Ethereum. Support across additional blockchain networks and external wallets will follow, Revolut said. External wallet transfers are already available for select customers and will broaden as liquidity builds, a Revolut spokesperson said. The token sits fully inside the Revolut retail app, giving eligible customers a euro-denominated onchain asset they can move between euros and crypto.
“EURR connects 80 million Revolut customers directly to onchain finance,” Emil Urmanshin, Revolut’s head of crypto, said in a statement. “By combining our global scale and licensed banking infrastructure with instant euro-denominated access to the crypto ecosystem, we are unlocking real-world stablecoin utility that no traditional bank or crypto native can match.”
That pitch leaves out a concurrent move. Revolut is pulling Tether’s USDt from the EEA and Switzerland. Remaining balances convert into customers’ base currencies after Aug. 31. EURR fills the gap.
The three launch countries were picked for their market size, a Revolut spokesperson said. Approximately 2 million customers are involved in the initial rollout. Additional currency-denominated stablecoins are planned, the company said, without naming the currencies. Each will move through its own regulatory pathway. Revolut described EURR as the first step in a broader stablecoin strategy.
The rollout follows a string of bets that signal where the firm is headed. UK regulators cleared Revolut Bank UK in March after lifting earlier license restrictions. In June, Revolut’s U.S. chief executive told Reuters a planned U.S. bank would offer stablecoin services alongside traditional products. Last month, Revolut connected its Revolut X crypto exchange to third-party AI assistants, letting users analyze markets, set alerts, and place trades through natural-language prompts.
Fiat transactions on EURR carry no fees, no spreads, the company said. Revolut’s standard crypto trading and remittance limits apply.
