Ripple Secures Full EU License in Luxembourg; XRP Holds $1.92
Ripple Payments Europe S.A. upgrades its Luxembourg status to a full EMI license, enabling passported services across the 27-nation bloc.
Ripple Payments Europe S.A. secured full Electronic Money Institution (EMI) authorization from Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) today, upgrading its preliminary green light received in mid-January. The definitive approval allows the firm to "passport" payment services across all 27 EU member states under MiCA compliance, removing the need for country-specific licenses.
EU-Wide Passporting Live
The Luxembourg license is the linchpin of Ripple’s European institutional strategy. By clearing the CSSF’s operational conditions, Ripple can now offer regulated payment services and electronic money issuance throughout the European Economic Area (EEA). This follows the UK FCA approval granted on Jan. 9, effectively bracketing the region with compliant infrastructure for both the Eurozone and the UK.

Market Reaction & Institutional Context
XRP traded tightly around $1.92 (+0.5%) following the news, reflecting a market that had largely priced in the approval after January’s preliminary notice. The license brings Ripple’s global regulatory portfolio to over 75 approvals. For market makers, the move signals a shift from pilot phases to commercial-scale execution in Europe, as regulatory credibility becomes the primary filter for institutional partners in 2026.
