Pons Meme Coin Factory Becomes Crypto’s Top Fee Generator as Token Soars 18,000%

A meme-coin-creation app on Robinhood Chain generated nearly $6 million in a single day of fees as its native token climbed roughly 18,000% since July.

A meme-coin-creation app called Pons generated $5.95 million in daily fees on September 3. That single figure out-earned its own host network and placed the platform among the highest-fee crypto protocols in operation, Decrypt reported, citing CoinDesk.

The spike marks a sharp shift in where crypto activity concentrates. And where revenue follows. A single app that lets anyone deploy a meme token in minutes briefly produced more fee income than the layer-2 chain it runs on, per DefiLlama data cited in the report. Pons ranked fourth among all crypto protocols the aggregator tracked that day.

The platform’s native token, PONS, traded at $0.5978 at press time. Up 31.82% in 24 hours, according to Decrypt. The token bottomed near $0.0033 on July 17. Since then it has climbed roughly 181-fold, or about 18,000%, in under seven weeks. A $1,000 bet at the July low would be worth approximately $181,000 as of September 3.

Pons flipped rival CashCat in late August to become the largest cryptocurrency by market cap on Robinhood Chain, Decrypt reported. The exact number depends on who you ask. Decrypt cited a figure above $430 million. DefiLlama showed $392 million. OpenSea listed $576 million.

CashCat takes its name from a brand Robinhood founders Vlad Tenev and Baiju Bhatt considered before settling on Robinhood, Decrypt noted.

Robinhood Chain launched July 1 as an Ethereum layer-2 built for tokenized stocks and DeFi. Meme coins drove most of the early traffic. Pons launched within days of mainnet and absorbed activity after rival launchpad Noxa stopped accepting new token creations on July 11, the report said.

PONS started trading around July 15 and hit $0.066 by July 27. Then came a jolt. In early August, Uniswap launched a zero-fee rival called Pools.trade that captured roughly half of launchpad volume. PONS crashed to about $0.016. Through late August the token climbed from roughly $0.03 to a high near $0.49 by the start of September before pushing further to $0.5978.

Pons deploys tokens with a fixed 1 billion supply straight into a trading pool. No team allocation. The platform never touches user funds, Decrypt reported. Roughly 80% of Pons revenue funds an automatic buyback-and-burn mechanism. About 288 million tokens, or 29% of the supply, have been burned so far. That leaves an effective supply near 712 million.

Binance Wallet added PONS to its Alpha trading tier on September 2, according to a Binance Wallet post cited by Decrypt. “Pons (PONS) and FLORK (FLORK) were added to Binance Alpha on September 2, 2026,” the post said.

PONS trades on Uniswap pools on Robinhood Chain. Centralized listings include MEXC, Gate.io, KuCoin, and Binance Alpha. Futures are available on Hyperliquid, Bybit, and Aster.

Tenev, on the Iced Coffee Hour podcast with Graham Stephan, described a vision where meme coins become distribution rails. “if you hold a meme coin, you just get stock tokens airdropped to you,” he said.

Traders, as ever, disagree on whether the fee spike signals durable demand or a burst that fades when the next launchpad arrives.
